Motorhead originally shipped with 10 cars and 8 tracks. Being a futuristic racer, these are all fictional, but they do manage to provide a good variety. The car models consist of around 500 polygons in their highest detail, a decent number back in 1998. The tracks consist of 30000 polygons[1]. Digital Illusions created the game assets in Lightwave 3D 5.0. Traces of this Lightwave workflow can be found in several of the game files, like for example the camera motion scripts. Digital Illusions also released the Avalanche as well as a small part of NeoCity as LightWave models for anyone who wanted to give it a go.

The cars and tracks in Motorhead can be unlocked by beating the League, where you start with the slowest cars and move upwards. You can read more information about the League in the Transatlantic Speed League page.

Digital Illusions released 4 more cars after Motorhead shipped. You can think of this the old-school equivalent of today's DLCs. The new cars are only available on the PC version of the game. The first two cars, Python Menace and SuperBee, were released as Car Pack 1, separately from any of the patches up until that point. The last two, Venom and Dominator were released with patch 3.0, which also included Car Pack 1.
